Magnificent Frawley drop goal seals Irish victory in Durban as Kolbe accused of 'diving'

Ireland sealed an incredible last-gasp victory over the Springboks in Durban to level their two-game series at one apiece.

Taking the ascendancy early, Ireland fronted up physically and scored the only try of the contest through Conor Murray following a brilliant half-break by the sublime Jamie Osborne.

The Boks will be disappointed to have let this one slip, as they utterly dominated at scrum time, with Handre Pollard in impervious form nailing every shot at the goal.

Whilst there was little to choose between the two sides, substitute flyhalf Ciaran Frawley stood up and landed two long-range drop goals to get his side over the line.

As the ball sailed over the bar and chose erupted, Springbok winger Cheslin Kolbe claimed that he was impeded on his way to attempting a charge down on Frawley.

Replaying the action, it was clear that none of the Irish players moved, and Kolbe simply slipped on his way to Frawley. Yet the incident caused a major scuffle between the two sides as tensions ran high.

Ultimately it would prove to be a storm in a teacup as Ireland were awarded the win further proving how little there is between the two sides at the present moment.

For both sides there were several positives to take away from the contest, chief among them were the performances of the two side’s young fullbacks Jamie Osborne and Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu who were both exceptional throughout the contest.

Next up for the Springboks is a clash with Portugal whilst Ireland bring an end to an exceptionally long season on a positive note.
